One Suspect Arrested While 2nd Remains Unknown in Aggravated Robbery

ARRESTED: Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon that occurred on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at around 10:00 pm at an apartment complex parking lot at the 5500 block of Bingle, in Houston, Texas.

The suspect, Rodney Elliott Curtis, 21, is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 176th State District Court. Rodney Curtis’ booking photo is attached to this release.

According to the complainant, he was sitting inside his parked vehicle when an unknown male approached him, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded his property. The complainant stated that he grabbed the suspect's firearm to disarm him and during the struggle, the firearm discharged and struck the suspect in the foot. A second suspect suddenly appeared, pointed his firearm at the complainant, and shot him in the calf. Both suspects then fled the location in an unknown direction. 

Note: The suspect was dropped off at a hospital in the Heights area a short time later by a second unknown male, who then fled the scene.  

A follow up investigation was conducted by a Houston Police Robbery Detective where Rodney E. Curtis, 21, was identified as the suspect that was shot in the foot at the scene of the robbery. In addition, during the investigation, a video of the second suspect (possibly goes by “JV”) was obtained by the robbery detective. The Houston Police Robbery Division is currently seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the unknown male in the video.  

An aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon warrant was filed on Rodney E. Curtis,21, on June 25, 2025, through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.  Curtis was then arrested on July 7, 2025, and booked into the Harris County jail. Houston PD #613085-25
