ARRESTED: Charges have been filed
against a suspect arrested for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon that
occurred on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at around 5:00 pm at an apartment
complex at the 1700 block of Wichita, in Houston, Texas.
The suspect, Dewayne Martin Jr., 28, is charged with aggravated robbery in the 208th State District Court. Dewayne Martine Jr.’s booking photo is attached to this release.
According to the complainant, she approached her apartment building and was about to walk up the stairs when she observed a known male walking towards her. The complainant stated that she ran up the stairs to get to her apartment as the male ran after her and was confronted at her doorway. The male displayed a handgun and forcibly took the complainants personal belongings. The suspect then fled the location in a tan Cadillac with no license plate. The complainant notified the Houston Police Department and filed an offense report.
A follow up investigation was conducted by a Houston Police Robbery Detective where Dewayne Martin Jr., 28, was identified as the suspect. An aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon warrant was filed on August 25, 2025, through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Monday, September 8, 2025, a Houston Police officer from the Southwest Patrol Division initiated a traffic stop on a tan Cadillac at 12800 Townwood Dr., in Houston, Texas. The officer noted that the license plate on the Cadillac belonged to a different type of vehicle. The driver informed the officer that he did not have his driver’s license with him but provided a name and date of birth.
The Houston Police officer was unable to locate anyone with the same name and date of birth and after a brief investigation, realized that the driver’s name was Dewayne Martin Jr., who had an aggravated robbery warrant for his arrest and had provided a false name and date of birth. The suspect was then placed into custody for the aggravated robbery warrant and additionally, charged with failure to ID as a fugitive. Martin was transported and booked into the Harris County jail.
