Suspect Arrested Shortly After Committing Convenience Store Robbery

ARRESTED: Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested for robbery by threat that occurred on Friday, September 13, 2024 at around 10:40 am at a convenience store at the 4400 block of Airline, in Houston, Texas.

The suspect, Ronnie Hunts, 37, is charged with robbery by threat in the 248th State District Court. Ronnie Hunts booking photo is attached to this release.

According to the complainant, he was working at a convenience store as the store clerk when the suspect walked in. The suspect approached the counter and threatened to shoot him while demanding the money from the cash register. The suspect then attempted to open the door leading to the secure area behind the cash registers. When the suspect was unable to gain access to the money, he fled the location on foot. The complainant then called the police.  

Houston Police officers from the North Patrol Division responded to the scene and were given a description of the suspect. A Houston Police officer located a male nearby matching the same physical description of the suspect and attempted to detain him for further questioning. The male then ran from the officer and was detained after a short foot pursuit. The suspect was then identified as Ronnie Hunts and brought back to the scene of the robbery.

The complainant identified Ronnie Hunts as the suspect in the robbery and charges of robbery by threat were filed and he was booked into the Harris County jail. Houston PD #1299489-24
