ARRESTED: Charges have
been filed against a suspect arrested for robbery bodily injury, attempting to
disarm a police officer, assault to a peace officer and parole violation
warrant on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at around 2:20 pm at a shoe store at the
8200 block of Broadway, in Houston, Texas.
The suspect, Arthur Jones, 40, is charged with robbery bodily injury, attempting to disarm a police officer, assault to a peace officer and parole violation warrant in the 228th State District Court. Arthur Jones’s booking photo is attached to this release.
According to the complainant, a Houston Police Officer, was working an extra job in the 7800 block of Bellfort The officer was notified of a trespasser at a fast-food restaurant and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the officer learned that the suspect had left the restaurant and observed him entering a nearby shoes store. The officer then followed the suspect to the shoe store and upon entry, learned from employee’s that he was a frequent shoplifter and was in the process of stealing while the officer was still inside the store.
The officer confronted the suspect and while attempting to take him into custody, the suspect resisted, assaulted the officer, and attempted to remove his weapon from his holster. The officer was able to deploy his taser at the suspect and take him into custody. Once the suspect was detained, he was then identified as Arthur Jones, 40.
While in custody, it was discovered that Jones also had a warrant for his arrest for a parole violation. Charges of robbery bodily injury, attempting to disarm a police officer, assault to a peace officer were filed through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and he was placed into the Harris County jail. Since 2017, Arthur Jones, 40, has been arrested and criminally charged on twenty-six occasions, which includes a criminal history of resisting arrest (3X), interfering with duties of a public servant (3X), assault to a police officer (3X), evading arrest (2X), attempting to disarm a police officer, harassment of a public servant, assault to a family member (3X), terroristic threat to family member, disorderly conduct, and numerous drug charges.
