Suspects Fail in Robbery Attempt at Busy Grocery Store Parking Lot

Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department’s Robbery Division need the public's assistance identifying the suspects responsible for an attempted aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

On Friday, January 25, 2019 at 3:40 pm, the complainant had been grocery shopping at the HEB Central Market, located at 3815 Westheimer, in Houston, Texas. The complainant stated that she had just finished placing her groceries in her vehicle and put her two year old in his car seat and was about to leave. As the complainant placed her vehicle in reverse, she noticed a black vehicle with dark tint back up next to her vehicle in a parking space. The vehicle then pulled out of the parking space and stopped while the complainant was closely watching their suspicious actions. Suddenly, an unknown male exited the black vehicle while holding a handgun and attempted to open the complainant’s passenger door. The complainant then panicked and hit the accelerator while the vehicle was still in reverse, narrowly missing a female shopper with her shopping cart. The complainant vehicle struck a shopping corral, which then struck a parked vehicle on the other side. The suspect got back into the black sedan and fled the scene with the driver.
