Suspect Arrested in Recently Released Robbery Case

 

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested for aggravated robbery that occurred on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at around 6:30 pm at a mechanic shop at the 4300 block of E. Crosstimbers, in Houston, Texas.

The suspect, Juan Vasquez, 37, is charged with aggravated robbery in the 488th State District Court. Juan Vasquez’s booking photo is attached to this release.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at around 6:30 pm, Vasquez and an unknown male walked up to a mechanic shop, located at the 4300 block of East Crosstimbers, in Houston, Texas. The males approached a customer’s truck in the parking lot and started to get into it.

An employee observed the males asked then what they were doing. One of the males then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the employee, and started to go through his pockets. A second employee at the mechanic shop observed what was happening and approached the suspect, who then got into the customers truck with the second suspect and fled the location. The stolen truck was located, unoccupied, along the roadway at the 7800 block of Duncan a short while later. Juan Vasquez was observed on surveillance video at a convenience store at 7800 Jensen shortly after the stolen truck was abandoned.

A photo of the suspect was released to the public on the Houston Police Robbery Division social media platforms on August 12 and on August 13, officers with the Northeast Patrol Investigative Squad received a tip naming Juan Vasquez as the suspect. Vasquez was then identified, and charges of aggravated robbery were filed on August 15, 2024.

Note: Juan Vasquez was arrested on July 27 for burglary of a habitation and was already in custody at the Harris County jail.
