Suspect Arrested After Bank Parking Lot Aggravated Robbery of Elderly Male

ARRESTED: Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested for aggravated robbery (elderly) and evading arrest (vehicle) on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at around 3:50 pm at a bank parking lot at the 6700 block of Capitol, in Houston, Texas.

The suspect, Chance Deante Stafford, 29, is charged with aggravated robbery (elderly) and evading arrest (vehicle) in the 232nd State District Court. Chance Deante Stafford’s booking photo is attached to this release.

According to the complainant, an 81-year-old male, he was getting into his vehicle at a bank parking lot when an unknown male opened the front passenger door and grabbed a bag sitting on the passenger seat. The complainant stated that at the same time, he grabbed the bag and attempted to keep the suspect from taking it. The suspect then assaulted the elderly complainant and was overpowered by the suspect, forcing him to let the bag go. The suspect then got into a blue Toyota Camry, with two additional males, and fled the location.

Houston Police patrol officers responded to the bank parking lot and provided a vehicle description to other patrol officers in the area. A few moments later, Patrol Officers from Houston Police, Metro Police and Deputy Constables from Harris County PCT. 6 located the suspects in the vehicle and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The suspects then evaded officers in the vehicle for a short distance until crashing into a light pole at the 2000 block of S. Wayside. Three suspects then exited the disabled vehicle and fled the area on foot.

Officers set up a perimeter and were able to locate one of the suspects, identified as Chance Deante Stafford, 29, who was then taken into custody. Charges of aggravated robbery (elderly) and evading arrest (vehicle) were filed through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Houston PD #1561236-24

Additionally, Houston Police Robbery Detectives are currently investigating the case in an attempt to identify the additional two males that fled from the scene. It is believed that the suspects are tied to additional robberies and burglaries of motor vehicles in Houston and Harris County.
